The Law Enforcement Explorer program is a division of the Boy Scouts of America.
Law Enforcement Exploring gives young adults the opportunity to gain insight into the career of law enforcement through instruction and by participating in hands-on fun-filled activites. The program is dedicated to enhancing our youths' character development and leadership skills whether they choose a career in law enforcement or not.
The objectives of the Law Enforcement Explorer Program are to further the Explorer's education, to encourage participation in worthwhile community service, and to enhance the Explorer's preparation for roles within a community.
Explorers are given the opportunity to expand their understanding of policing and the challenges that police officers are faced with in providing service to the community.
Exploring provides an avenue for members to serve their community and instills civic responsibility.
Explorers are trained in several different policing aspects. The knowledge gained from the training will prepare them for a future career in law enforcement. The Explorers will have the opportunity to participate in police-type competitions where they are judged on their "handling of a call". (Note: Explorers will not be real or even junior police after receiving training.) Explorers may earn the privilige to participate in the APD Ride Along Program, where they will have the opportunity to see patrol operations firsthand by partnering with a uniformed patrol officer during his/her shift.
The Arlington Police Exploring program is designed to build the whole person; character, leadership, academics, physical fitness, and instill the desire to serve others.
